A holistic approach to warm ups
Instructor: Jhon Alvarado
Join Jhon as he leads you through a warm-up routine that re-frames the varying aspects of warm-ups for the classical guitar. We will cover tendonitis prevention, beginner body-mapping, a new look at scales, and warming down.


10:00 am
Improvisation Workshop
Instructor: Michael Bester
Step away from the score and explore your innate musical ideas. We’ll cover some ways you can push aside fear of not knowing what to play and make space to connect with and play the music in your inner ear.


11:00 am
Presentation/Workshop
Instructor: Catherine O’Kelly
Catherine will demonstrate the extended techniques in Nikita Koshkin’s The Prince’s Toys, discuss what they represent in the story, and then perform The Prince’s Toys. After the presentation will be a workshop, in which participants will learn how to perform the techniques on their guitars.

Master Class
Instructor: Christopher Ladd
Participate in the Member’s Festival Master Class with award winning and internationally renowned classical guitarist Christopher Ladd. Mr. Ladd currently serves on the faculty of The Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA and at The Hartt School in West Hartford, Connecticut as the Chair of the Guitar and Harp Program.

Four 30 minute master class spots are available for $75 each.

Open-mic Concert

Festival participants are invited to perform up to 10 minutes of music for the Member’s Concert. Sign up in advance by emailing Catherine O’Kelly at catherine.okelly@bostonguitar.org. Space is limited to 80 minutes of music total, so sign up soon to reserve your spot!

David Russell Concert

To close out the festival, as well as this year’s Artist Series, the incomparable David Russell returns to the BCGS stage!
Your ticket to the concert is included in your Festival pass.
