SUMMARY:John Muratore
DESCRIPTION:Highly acclaimed classical guitarist John Muratore performs regularly as a solo recitalist\, concerto soloist and chamber musician. As a solo artist he has appeared extensively throughout the United States\, Canada\, Europe and Russia. He has collaborated with numerous chamber ensembles including Emmanuel Music\, the Spectrum Singers\, Chorus Pro Musica\, Alea III\, Boston Musica Viva and Counterpoint. Mr. Muratore has been the featured soloist at numerous international venues including the Academie Festival des Arcs (France)\, St. Petersburg (Russia) Chamber Concerts\,  the Atelier International Concert Series in Paris and AIMS (American Institute for Musical Studies\, Graz\, Austria). \nThe Boston Globe has described him as “a fleet-fingered and musicianly performer” and has characterized his playing as…”unleashing so many different varieties of tone and color in quick succession…a kind of aural iridescence.” John\, whose live performances have often been featured on NPR\, WGBH Radio’s Classical Performances has recorded for Albany\,  Pont Nuef and Arabesque Records. His most recent CD\, Domenie\, is a collaboration with accordionist Roberto Cassan. SUMMARY:The Hampton Trio
DESCRIPTION:The Hampton Trio performs original music and arrangements for ensemble of mandolin\, mandola\, and classical guitar. Inspired by the groundbreaking work of groups such as Trio Nuovo (Japan) and Trio Chamorro (Spain)\, the Hampton Trio’s goal is to popularize and augment the existing repertoire for this instrumentation.  The Hampton Trio has performed at the 46 Festival Internacional de Plectro de La Rioja (2018) as well as The Sunday Sounds Series sponsored by the Boston Classiacal Guitar Society\, the Bread Box Theater\, the Packing House and other New England venues.

SUMMARY:Thatcher Harrison
DESCRIPTION:Thatcher Harrison is a guitarist and a composer. As a guitarist\, he plays everything from classical guitar to jazz guitar\, to fingerstyle guitar\, to popular/rock guitar. As a composer\, he deftly combines influences from many genres of music to create pieces that satisfy both the heart and the mind. \nAs a competitor\, Thatcher Harrison has won 20 prizes in regional\, national\, and international competitions\, most notably 1st Prize at the 2021 Twents Gitaarfestival International Fingerstyle Guitar Competition\, 1st Prize at the 2021 Pleven Guitar Festival Fingerstyle Guitar Competition\, 1st Prize at the 2020 Boston Guitarfest Competition\, 1st Prize at the 2020 Atlanta Festival Guitar Competition\, and a winner of the 2019 National YoungArts Foundation Competition. \nAs a composer\, Thatcher Harrison specializes in what he calls “classical fusion” composition: pieces based in classical composition and performance techniques\, but with influences from jazz music\, rock music\, fingerstyle guitar music\, film score music\, and world music. While Thatcher is best known for his compositions for solo guitar\, he also loves to compose for different instruments and ensembles\, and he has completed several commissions for soloists and ensembles alike. \nAs a performer\, Thatcher Harrison chooses to perform unconventional and daring programs\, oftentimes consisting primarily of his own compositions. Fresh off his concert at the 2021 Boston Guitarfest\, Thatcher’s upcoming concert season will see him expand into the international scene\, as he will perform concerts for the Pleven Guitar Festival in Bulgaria\, the Twents Gitaarfestival in the Netherlands\, and the Domaine Forget International Music Festival in Canada. In years past\, Thatcher has performed at such notable concert halls as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall\, Jordan Hall\, Symphony Hall\, the Baryshnikov Arts Center\, and RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. Thatcher also performed on Episode #376 of NPR’s From The Top in 2019. \nThatcher is currently studying for his Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance at New England Conservatory with Eliot Fisk and Jérôme Mouffe\, and he also studies privately with flamenco virtuoso Grisha Goryachev and classical guitar virtuoso Scott Borg. SUMMARY:Transcontinental Duo
DESCRIPTION:The Transcontinental Duo\, formed in 2000 by Igor Golger and Hiroko Kajimoto\, performs in various styles\, from baroque and classical to funk rock\, even though both were students in a classical conservatory setting. They play music from official sources\, as well as transcribing music from old phonograph recordings. \nHiroko Kajimoto graduated from the Osaka College of Music\, and the Boston Conservatory. Her main instrument is flute\, and she also plays many other woodwind instruments\, and guitar. \nIgor Golger graduated from the Boston Conservatory in guitar performance\, and also studied the Russian 7-string guitar\, an instrument that has been kept alive in Russia by gypsies and rare classical music enthusiasts.

SUMMARY:Back Bay Guitar Trio
DESCRIPTION:Back Bay Guitar Trio formed in 2002 and has performed at Dartmouth College\, Longy School of Music\, Berklee College of Music\, St. Anselm College\, University of New Hampshire\, The House of Blues and at the world renowned Boston Hatch Shell. The BBGT have also been featured artists in concert series for the Boston Classical Guitar Society\, the New York City Classical Guitar Society\, and opened up for guitarist Al Dimeola at the Lebanon (NH) Opera House. The Back Bay Guitar Trio toured Germany in the summer of 2009 and appeared as featured artists at the Hildener Meisterkurs in Hilden and a concert sponsored by the U.S. Consulate at the Nebbiensches Gartenhaus in Frankfurt. \nAbout the Members\nJohn Mason grew up in Westwood Mass and currently resides in Northampton Mass. He studied at Middlebury College\, graduating in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in music. He furthered his music education at the Berklee College of Music the following year. In 2002\, he won the Guitarmageddon National Championship at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. He is currently on faculty at Westfield State College\, Holyoke Community College and the Northfield Mount Hermon School. In addition to being in the Back Bay Guitar Trio\, John performs with the improv group Solo Mission with drummer Gary Rzab. \nDavid Newsam currently works as an assistant professor in the guitar department at Berklee where he has taught since 1989. He is also employed as a senior lecturer in music at Dartmouth College in Hanover\, NH where he teaches guitar and jazz improvisation. David created the jazz guitar program at the University of New Hampshire where he teaches\, directs the UNH Jazz Guitar Ensemble and coaches jazz ensembles. He is a former faculty member of the National Guitar Summer Workshop. David performs solo and group engagements throughout New England.\n \nJason Ennis is an exciting voice in the world of jazz guitar. His unique sound\, deep groove and sensitive feel\, along with a diverse background in jazz\, blues\, Brazilian music and classical music have made him highly in demand as a soloist\, sideman\, bandleader and musical director. A graduate of Middlebury College (BA in music)\, Jason attended Berklee College of Music (Boston) and The San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

DESCRIPTION:As guitar soloist and composer\, Dr. José Manuel Lezcano has captivated audiences on four continents. In programs of standard repertoire\, Hispano-American composers\, and original works\, he has appeared in major venues and festivals\, including Carnegie Recital Hall\, the NYC North-South Consonance Series\, Cuba\, Trinidad & Tobago\, Spain\, Ecuador\, Colombia\, Peru\, Brazil\, China\, Germany\, and the Czech Republic as recitalist and concerto soloist.   Dr. Lezcano is thrilled to recently join the School of Music at the University of Southern Maine (Gorham) as the new Artist Lecturer in Guitar.  He continues to serve as Professor Emeritus at Keene State College\, directing & coordinating the nationally acclaimed and NASM accredited guitar program there.  Described  by Fanfare Magazine as “an excellent guitarist as well as an imaginative composer\,” Jose has earned numerous professional recognitions\, including first prize in the MTNA National Guitar Competition\, the NHSCA Individual Artist Fellowship\, NHMTA Composer of the Year(twice)\, KSC Distinguished Research Award\, and a Fulbright Award to Ecuador\, where he pursued research on the guitar as ritual instrument in indigenous / mestizo summer solstice festivals\, and taught courses at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador.

His performances have been broadcast on American National Public Radio and Bayrische Rundfunk\, including both the nationally syndicated Performance Today (live performance/interview in Washington D.C. NPR studio 4A) and Harmonia programs. \nDavid has recorded for Dorian\, Callisto and Focus Recordings. SUMMARY:Providence Mandolin Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:The Providence Mandolin Orchestra was formed and directed by the famous Italian mandolinist Giuseppe Pettine in the 1930’s.  It was later directed by Hibbard Perry.  Mark Davis took over the reins as conductor/music director in 1989.  Since then the PMO has established a reputation as one of the premiere American mandolin orchestras with a reputation for programming original contemporary compositions by such composers as J. Kellaris\, F. Wallace\, C. Assad\, A. Carr-Boyd\, R. Charlton\, O. Hartford\, F. Trester\, B. Beath\, A. Kruisbrink\, and V. Kioulaphides.

SUMMARY:Kim Perlak
DESCRIPTION:Kim’s approach to the guitar includes new music\, education\, and public service. Her performances of classical works\, original pieces\, and collaborations with jazz and traditional players have been featured on National Public Radio\, at the Peabody Institute Fretfest\, and on five recordings. Her projects combining performance\, American music history\, and educational outreach have been funded through grants from the Center for African American Southern Music and Yale Alumni Ventures. \nAt Berklee College of Music\, Kim served as Assistant Chair of Guitar for five years before becoming Chair of Guitar in September 2018. As part of her curriculum development for the department\, she authored the book Classical Technique for the Modern Guitarist\, which was published by Berklee Press/Hal Leonard in 2016. She is the recipient of the 2016 and 2018 Berklee Chair Recording Grants. Kim is an advisor to the Berklee Career Center\, and is the director of Berklee Guitar Sessions.

SUMMARY:The Transcontinental Duo
DESCRIPTION:The Transcontinental Duo\, formed in 2000 by Igor Golger and Hiroko Kajimoto\, performs in various styles\, from baroque and classical to funk rock\, even though both were students in a classical conservatory setting. They play music from official sources\, as well as transcribing music from old phonograph recordings. \nHiroko Kajimoto graduated from the Osaka College of Music\, and the Boston Conservatory. Her main instrument is flute\, and she also plays many other woodwind instruments\, and guitar. \nIgor Golger graduated from the Boston Conservatory in guitar performance\, and also studied the Russian 7-string guitar\, an instrument that has been kept alive in Russia by gypsies and rare classical music enthusiasts.

DESCRIPTION:Art\, science\, lutherie\, and the classical guitar\nA luthier and physics professor teams up with a classical guitarist and music professor to demonstrate the links between science\, craft\, and art in the creation and playing of the classical guitar. This multimedia presentation explores the continuum of phenomena from the instrument’s wood to the human perception of sound. \nTo palpably illustrate the craft\, physics\, and physiology the presenters will use live vibrational equipment\, audio instrumentation\, pre-assembly guitar parts\, animated slides\, videos\, and performances on a variety of unique custom instruments. \nThis presentation has evolved and been refined over the last decade\, as class curricula and for presentations at various universities\, guitar festivals\, community centers\, and conventions of the Guild of American Luthiers\, the Guitar Foundation of America\, Acoustical Society of America\, the Martin Guitar factory\, and others. \n  \nJuan Oscar Azaret\nJ. Oscar Azaret. BCGS\, Executive Director; Luthier\, Azaret Guitars; Northern Essex Community College\, Physics; Bell Telephone Laboratories\, engineer (retired)\n  \nOscar currently keeps busy as a luthier\, physics and engineering professor\, and Executive Director of the Boston Classical Guitar Society. A native of Cienfuegos Cuba\, Oscar has also lived in Miami\, East Tennessee\, California\, and Massachusetts. He holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University and a BSEE from the University of Tennessee. He is a contributing author to the Guild of American Luthiers and active member of the Acoustical Society of America. \nOscar worked for over 3 decades in the Boston area for Bell Laboratories\, and subsequent spin-offs in the fields of communication systems and semiconductors. During this time\, he also studied and honed the craft of lutherie\, built his workshop and collected wood. Passionate for the sound\, aesthetics\, and science of the classical guitar\, Oscar strives to go beyond the craft and explore the underlying physics and physiology which endow the classical guitar with its enduring human appeal. He has lectured extensively and published articles on these topics at various universities\, conventions\, and institutions. \n  \nRobert J. Ward\, MA\nRobert J. Ward. Northeastern University\, Music Faculty; Brookline Music School; Concert Guitarist; Former BCGS Director\nA native of California\, Robert Ward holds a Bachelor of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music\, and Master of Arts from the University of California San Diego.  In California Mr. Ward studied with the legendary Romero Family – Angel\, Pepe\, and Celin Romero.  He has also studied with Michael Lorimer\, Lee Ryan\, George Sakellariou\, Laurette Goldberg\, and has performed in master classes with Pepe Romero\, Abel Carlevaro\, Jose Tomas\, Jordi Savall\, and Jurgen Huesbscher. \nAn active teacher and concertizer\, Mr. Ward holds faculty positions at Northeastern University and the Brookline School of Music.  He has concertized extensively throughout the world as a solo artist as well as with orchestras and ensembles.  His performances have spanned the globe taking him to such locations as China\, Greece\, Cuba\, Hawaii\, Texas\, California\, Canada\, Boston\, New York\, and others.  He has been the featured soloist with the New England Philharmonic\, the Harvard Mozart Society Orchestra\, the Belmont Symphony Orchestra\, the Newton Symphony Orchestra\, the Harvard Group for new Music\, and the Bridgewater Sinfonia. \nMr. Ward has been a featured artist on National Public Radio “Morning Pro Musica\, Classics in the Morning\, Off the Record\, Chamberworks\, and A Note to You.”  Mr. Ward has recorded for Centaur Records and served for two years as the Artistic Director of the Boston Classical Guitar Society. \n

DESCRIPTION:Thatcher Harrison is a guitarist and a composer. As a composer\, Thatcher Harrison tries to expand the boundaries of classical guitar repertoire through what he calls “classical fusion” composition: pieces based in classical composition and performance techniques\, but with influences from other genres such as jazz music\, rock music\, fingerstyle guitar music\, blues music\, pop music\, film score music\, and world music.\n \nAs a guitarist\, Thatcher chooses to perform unconventional and daring programs\, oftentimes consisting primarily of his own compositions. Having won 20 competition prizes\, Thatcher is currently working to establish his career as an international concert artist\, with his 2021-2022 season including concerts for Boston Classical Guitar Society\, Pleven Guitar Festival\, The 21st Century Guitar Conference\, Twents Gitaarfestival\, Boston Guitarfest\, and Domaine Forget International Music Festival. Thatcher is currently studying for his Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance at New England Conservatory with Eliot Fisk and Jérôme Mouffe.

DESCRIPTION:Highly acclaimed classical guitarist John Muratore performs regularly as a solo recitalist\, concerto soloist and chamber musician. As a solo artist he has appeared extensively throughout the United States\, Canada\, Europe and Russia. He has collaborated with ­numerous chamber ensembles including Emmanuel Music\, the Spectrum Singers\, ­Chorus Pro Musica\, Alea III\, Boston Musica Viva and Counterpoint. Recent appearances as concerto soloist have been with the Ridgefield Symphony\, Vermont Symphony and Symphony by the Sea under the direction of Jonathan McPhee. \nJohn is a graduate of the New England Conservatory and a faculty member of the Boston University School of Music. He also teaches online at Dartmouth College and is the coordinator of the guitar program at the All Newton Music School.
