SUMMARY:Lovro Peretić
DESCRIPTION:Lovro Peretić is an internationally recognized\, award-winning classical guitarist from Zagreb\, Croatia. He started studying guitar at a young age with Xhevdet Sahatxhija\, and later studied with Judicaël Perroy at the Haute Ecole de Musique Genève in Switzerland. Today he is regarded as one of the leading guitarists of the younger generation\, regularly giving concerts and winning numerous awards at some of the most prestigious classical music competitions. \nLovro has won over 30 prizes in international competitions\, including first place at the 2022 Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition\, the 2020 Eurostrings Guitar Competition\, and the Changsha International Guitar Competition in China. As part of his first prize award at the GFA competition\, Lovro recorded his debut album for the Naxos Laureate Series\, which was released in 2023. \nLovro has given concerts throughout Europe as a soloist and as a chamber musician. He regularly performs in various chamber ensembles\, most notably his guitar trio Evocación\, which recently released their first album\, also named Evocación.  He has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras\, including the Symphony Orchestra of Croatian radio television and the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra\, and has performed and given master classes in many of the world’s most prestigious guitar festivals and concert series\, including the Paris International Guitar Festival and the London International Guitar Festival.

DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome the incomparable David Russell back to the BCGS stage to round out our 2022–23 Artist Series. \nGRAMMY award winner for his CD AIRE LATINO in the category of best instrumental soloist in classical music. \nHonorary Doctorate in Music by the University of Arizona in Tucson in 2014. \nInducted into the Hall of Fame of the Guitar Foundation of America in 2018. \nClassical guitarist David Russell is world renowned for his superb musicianship and inspired artistry\, having earned the highest praise from audiences and critics alike. In recognition of his great talent and his international career\, he was named a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Music in London in 1997. \nIn May 2003 he was bestowed the great honor of being made “adopted son” of Es Migjorn\, the town in Minorca where he grew up. Later the town named a street after him\, “Avinguda David Russell”. \nIn November 2003 he was given the Medal of Honor of the Conservatory of the Balearics. \nAfter winning the grammy award\, the town of Nigrán in Spain where he resides\, gave him the silver medal of the town in an emotional ceremony. \nDuring his studies at the Royal Academy\, David Russell won twice the Julian Bream Guitar Prize. Later he won numerous international competitions\, including the Andrés Segovia Competition \, the José Ramírez Competition and Spain’s prestigious Francisco Tárrega Competition . \nDavid Russell spends his time touring the world\, appearing regularly at prestigious halls in main cities\, such as New York\, London\, Tokyo\, Los Angeles\, Madrid\, Toronto or Rome. Concert-goers everywhere are in awe of his musical genius and inspired by his captivating stage presence. His love of his craft resonates through his flawless and seemingly effortless performance. The attention to detail and provocative lyrical phrasing suggest an innate understanding of what each individual composer was working to achieve\, bringing to each piece a sense of adventure. \nIn May 2005 he received a homage from the music conservatory of Vigo\, culminating with the opening of the new Auditorium\, to which they gave the name “Auditorio David Russell”. \nIn 2009 David was named honorary member of “Amigos de la Guitarra”\, the oldest guitar society in Spain. \nA prolific recording artists\, his collection includes seventeen CDs with Telarc International. \nThe New York Times wrote about his performance: “… Mr. Russell made his mastery evident without ever deviating from an approach that places musical values above mere display. It was apparent to the audience throughout the recital that Mr. Russell possesses a talent of extraordinary dimension”. \nUpon hearing play in London\, Andrés Segovia wrote: “My congratulations on your musicality and guitaristic technique”.

SUMMARY:Xuefei Yang
DESCRIPTION:Xuefei Yang is acclaimed as one of the world’s finest classical guitarists. Hailed as a musical pioneer – her fascinating journey began after the Cultural Revolution\, a period where Western musical instruments and music were banned. Fei was the first-ever guitarist in China to enter a music school\, and became the first internationally recognised Chinese guitarist on the world stage. \nHer first public appearance was at the age of ten and received such acclaim that the Spanish Ambassador in China presented her with a concert guitar. Her debut in Madrid at the age of 14 was attended by the composer Joaquín Rodrigo and\, when John Williams heard her play\, he gave two of his own instruments to Beijing’s Central Conservatoire especially for her and other advanced students. \nFei is one of the few guitarists whose artistry connects with audiences far beyond the guitar fraternity. Her international success has led her to be invited to play in more than 50 countries at numerous prestigious venues\, and is frequently invited to play with the world’s leading orchestras\, and collaborate with artists such as Ian Bostridge\, Roberto Alagna and Sir James Galway. \nGramophone magazine praised her as one of the leading innovators of her generation for continuing to build the guitar repertoire. \nFei has made many acclaimed recordings for major labels. Her first received a gold disc and her second was selected as ‘Editor’s Choice’ in Gramophone magazine. Fei’s recent recordings include “Songs from our Ancestors” which continues her successful collaboration with Ian Bostridge and several solo albums; “Summertime”\, “Winter Songs” (Apple Music)\, “Sketches of China” (EMI) and “Magna Carta”\, the complete guitar works of John Brunning with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (Apple Music) which featured in the USA Billboard Charts and UK Official Charts. \nShe has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour\, the BBC Proms\, & documentaries on BBC and China Central Television. The UK classical music station\, Classic FM\, named Fei as one of the 100 top classical musicians of our time and BBC Music Magazine named her as one of the top six guitarists of the last century. \nWhile in Boston for this concert\, Xuefei will also be giving a master class on March 12 at the Rivers School Conservatory as part of their Guitar Weekend event.

DESCRIPTION:We are proud to welcome Adam Del Monte to the BCGS stage to kick off the 2022–23 Artist Series. \nOne of the leading flamenco and classical guitarist/composers of his generation\, Adam del Monte has made it his life mission to fully express himself in these two genres\, transcending labeling and convention. Always having incorporated a wide array of musical styles in his compositions\, Del Monte and has embarked on a journey creating a unique sound and language of flamenco that is both steeped in tradition and progressive in its openness to musical flavors from around the world. \nDel Monte has recorded for Deutsche Gramophone – the featured flamenco guitar part in the double Grammy award winning opera Ainadamar by Osvaldo Golijov (2006)\, with soprano Dawn Upshaw and the Atlanta Symphony\, conducted by Robert Spano.  Since then\, he has toured this opera in\, Carnegie Hall\, NY\, Lincoln Center\, NY\, Barbican Center\, London\, Colorado Music Festival in Boulder\, Chicago Symphony and many more.  \nDel Monte was both influenced by and inspired the younger generation of flamenco performers who were beginning to depart from the previous virtual space of Spanish flamenco. Del Monte\, too\, set out in new directions\, integrating years of traditional and leading–edge flamenco training as well as expanding his musicianship on the classical guitar. An eclectic awareness of jazz\, world music and other contemporary forms led to new\, creative renditions of flamenco repertoire.   \nFirst Prize Winner at the 1997 Stotsenberg International Classical Guitar Competition\, Del Monte is one of the new generation’s dynamic forces in both flamenco and classical guitar. He studied flamenco and classical guitar in Spain\, Israel & England. Beginning with his father\, he continued his training with such famed Gypsy performers as Pepe Habichuel”\, Paco Cortez\, Nino Miguel &Gerardo Nunez. His classical guitar teachers were Menashe Baquiche\, Israel and Gordon Crosskey at Chethams School of Music and at the Royal Northern College of Music\, Manchester\, England. He has also appeared as both a solo artist and group performer in major venues such as LA’s Mark Taper Forum and the Wilshire Theater; the Teatro Real and the Conde Duque in Madrid; Manuel de Falla Auditorium in Granada; New Mexico St Francis Auditorium in Santa Fe; the International Guitar Festival in Israel\, GFA in St Louis\,’96\, La Jolla\,’97 and Charleston\, 99 GFA\, Guitar Festival\, the 500th anniversary of Columbus celebrations in Paris and Madrid. \nAdam has been on the studio guitar department faculty at USC since 2000\, where he teaches flamenco and classical guitar.  \nDel Monte plays classical and flamenco guitars by Erez Perelman from Israel and Altamira Guitars. \nwww.adamdelmonte.com \nFeaturing Ria Modak\nThe BCGS is also happy to welcome Ria Modak to the Artist Series stage this evening to open Adam Del Monte’s performance. \n \nRia Modak is a guitarist and composer from New York. She is pursuing a master’s degree in guitar performance at the New England Conservatory of Music\, where she studies with Eliot Fisk\, Jérôme Mouffe\, and Grisha Goryachev\, and recently graduated from Harvard College\, where she studied with Vijay Iyer and Esperanza Spalding. Her playing has been recognized by the National YoungArts Foundation\, the Long Island Classical Guitar Society\, the New York Guitar Seminar\, and Lincoln Center’s Chamber Music Society\, and she appeared on NPR’s From The Top in 2018 and 2020. She has performed with Paquito D’Rivera\, Ali Sethi\, Claire Chase\, Isheeta Chakrvarty and other musicians both in the United States and India at venues ranging from Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall to the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Mumbai. As a composer\, she is inspired by her training in Hindustani music and flamenco\, and has been commissioned by the Harvard Office for the Arts\, the Harvard Composers’ Association\, the National Jazz Museum in Harlem\, and Winter JazzFest as part of Jen Shyu and Sara Serpa’s M3 Fellowship.

DESCRIPTION:BCGS Live Events are back! \nJoin us on November 13\, 2021\, where we present the incomparable Berta Rojas at the First Lutheran Church in Boston\, with an opening performance by Thatcher Harrison. \nOur COVID safety guidelines will be in effect at this performance. \n\nAbout Berta Rojas\nBerta Rojas ranks among today’s foremost classical guitarists. She has been praised as “…guitarist extraordinaire…” by the Washington Post\, and by Classical Guitar Magazine as “… ambassador of the classical guitar.” \nBerta’s acknowledged warmth and musicality have earned her the admiration of audiences at major venues worldwide. Hailing from Paraguay\, Berta’s performances of the music of Agustin Barrios are so compelling\, that she was invited by John Williams to perform at the London Globe Theater in 2018.  \nBerta takes her audience on a colorful journey of sound\, embracing new works by composers in diverse genres. The journey is echoed in recordings such as Cielo Abierto (2006) and Terruño (2009)\, as well as in the duo with Carlos Barbosa-Lima on Alma y Corazón (2007) and the celebrated\, Intimate Barrios (2008)\, featuring works by the great Paraguayan composer and guitarist. On her recording\, Felicidade (2017)\, she pays tribute to Brazilian music\, with guest artists including Gilberto Gil\, Toquinho and Ivan Lins.  \nBerta Rojas has been ranked among the most influential women in the Hispanic world (EFE and EsGlobal 2014; 2017). She has been named a Fellow of the Americas by the US Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for her artistic excellence\, and in her country was honored with the designation of Illustrious Ambassador of Musical Arts as well as with the National Order of Merit of the Comuneros in 2015. In 2017\, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to culture\, she received both the National Order of Merit Don José Falcón and the Carlos Colombino Award. As a composer\, Thatcher Harrison expands the boundaries of classical guitar repertoire through what he calls “classical fusion” composition. As a guitarist\, Thatcher Harrison chooses to perform unconventional and daring programs\, oftentimes consisting primarily of his own compositions. After winning 20 competition prizes\, Thatcher Harrison is working to establish his career as an international concert artist\, with his 2021-2022 season including concerts for Boston Guitarfest in the United States\, Pleven Guitar Festival in Bulgaria\, Twents Gitaarfestival in the Netherlands\, and Domaine Forget Concert Hall in Canada. Thatcher Harrison is currently studying for his Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance at New England Conservatory with Eliot Fisk and Jérôme Mouffe.

SUMMARY:New England Guitar Ensembles Festival 2020: Irina Kulikova & Nikita Koshkin
DESCRIPTION:The New England Guitar Ensembles Festival (NEGEF)\, our annual weekend celebration of the guitar as an ensemble instrument\, returns in 2020 with enthralling guitar virtuoso Irina Kulikova and a newly commissioned guitar orchestra piece from renowned composer Nikita Koshkin. \nA multiple first-prize winner in international competitions\, Irina has been performing in front of captivated audiences since her early teens. At NEGEF\, she will give a masterclass on Saturday the 22nd\, followed by a featured recital on Sunday the 23rd\, at 4 pm in Pickman Hall. \nStorm Warning\, the new work from Nikita Koshkin\, will be premiered at Sunday’s concert by the NEGEF orchestra. SUMMARY:Brasil Guitar Duo
DESCRIPTION:Brasil Guitar Duo\, a 2006 winner of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition\, and hailed by Classical Guitar magazine for its “maturity of musicianship and technical virtuosity\,” is equally at home on a classical or a world-music series or performing a concerto with orchestra. João Luiz and Douglas Lora met in São Paulo as teenage guitar students and their successful partnership of over twenty years results from their innovative programming— which features a seamless blend of traditional and Brazilian works—leading to a busy global touring schedule and a growing catalogue of critically acclaimed recordings.  \nCommitted to performing new chamber music employing the guitar\, the Duo joined cellists Yo-Yo Ma and Carlos Prieto for the October 2014 world premiere of El arco y la lira\, a work for two cellos and two guitars by the esteemed Cuban composer Leo Brouwer. On the same program—a highlight of the sixth annual Festival Leo Brouwer in Havana—the Duo gave the Cuban premiere of Brouwer’s Sonata de Los Viajeros\, which they had presented in its U.S. premiere the previous month and recorded for a Naxos CD of Brouwer’s complete works for two guitars\, which was nominated for a 2016 Latin Grammy award for Best New Composition. \nEager advocates for both traditional and new concerti for two guitars and orchestra\, the Duo premiered a Concerto for Two Guitars and Orchestra by Brazilian composer Paulo Bellinati with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra in June 2012\, under the direction of Giancarlo Guerrero\, and gave the work its U.S. premiere in April 2013. In February 2016\, they recorded the Bellinati concerto along with Leo Brouwer’s concerto Book of Signs with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and conductor David Amado\, and that Naxos CD—also entitled Book of Signs—was nominated for a 2018 Latin Grammy award for Best Classical Album. Additional career concerto highlights include the Dallas Symphony\, Houston Symphony\, Dayton Philharmonic\, Lancaster (OH) Symphony\, plus\, the Duo has appeared internationally on major concert series and at festivals in Cuba\, Germany\, England\, Canada\, South Korea\, Colombia\, Brazil\, Austria\, Panama\, Poland\, and Bermuda. \nVery active in the recording studio\, the Duo’s latest release is Ghosting\, (CAG Records; July 2017)\, featuring their unique mixture of both classical and Brazilian music\, including their own compositions and the title track written for them by guitar master David Leisner. This recording is very similar in spirit to the Duo’s first CAG Records CD\, Bom Partido (2007)\, featuring all Brazilian repertoire that prompted Classical Guitar to write: “The maturity of musicianship and technical virtuosity displayed on this debut recording by João Luiz and Douglas Lora is simply outstanding…The original compositions by Lora comfortably stand alongside the ‘big names’ on the rest of the programme and are well crafted and very appealing.” Next came two critically acclaimed CDs containing the complete works for two guitars by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco\, released by Naxos in 2008-09. The Duo has also won praise for its recent CD (Avie) in collaboration with flutist Marina Piccinini featuring all of J.S. Bach’s flute sonatas\, as arranged by the Duo for flute and two guitars. \nBrasil Guitar Duo actively strives to expand the repertoire for two guitars\, with Lora contributing works of his own and Luiz arranging both classical and Brazilian music. Appearing frequently in diverse non-traditional spaces\, the Duo combines a broad repertoire of classical guitar duos (Bach\, Sor\, Scarlatti\, Rameau\, Debussy\, etc.) with such traditional Brazilian dance forms as choro\, samba\, maxixe\, and baião. \nDuo members João Luiz and Douglas Lora met in São Paulo as teenage guitar students and have been performing together for twenty years. The Duo’s principal teacher was Henrique Pinto\, and they also worked privately with Fabio Zanon\, Paulo Martelli\, Sergio Abreu\, and Alice Artzt. Douglas Lora earned his Master’s degree from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music as a student of Dr. Rene Gonzalez. João Luiz received his Master’s degree from Mannes College the New School for Music under Michael Newman\, and with sponsorship from the Augustine Guitar Scholarship Fund he earned a doctoral degree from Manhattan School of Music as a student of David Leisner. João is the head of the guitar department at the State University of New York-Purchase\, and also teaches guitar at CUNY-Hunter College and New Jersey City University. \n

DESCRIPTION:Legendary guitarist Manuel Barrueco is internationally recognized as one of the most important guitarists of our time. His unique artistry has been continually described as that of a superb instrumentalist and a superior and elegant musician\, possessing a seductive sound and uncommon lyrical gifts. \nHis career has been dedicated to bringing the guitar to the main musical centers of the world such as the Musikverein in Vienna\, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam\, Royal Albert Hall in London\, Philharmonie in Berlin\, Teatro Real in Madrid\, and Palau de la Musica in Barcelona. He has completed a dozen tours of Japan and made repeated appearances in Korea\, Taiwan\, Singapore\, China\, and Hong Kong\, and in Latin America he has performed in Mexico\, Brazil\, Colombia\, Costa Rica\, Panama and Puerto Rico.  \nBarrueco’s commitment to contemporary music and to the expansion of the guitar repertoire has led him to collaborations with many distinguished composers such as Steven Stucky\, Michael Daugherty\, Roberto Sierra\, Arvo Pärt\, Jonathan Leshnoff\, Gabriela Lena Frank\, Dmitri Yanov-Yanovsky\, and Toru Takemitsu. \nManuel Barrueco has appeared on a wide array of television programs including “CBS Sunday Morning”\, A&E’s “Breakfast with the Arts”\, and “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” on PBS. He was featured in a Lexus car commercial\, and his work in music inspired Michael Lawrence’s biographical documentary: “Manuel Barrueco: A Gift and a Life”. \nBarrueco’s recording catalogue includes over a dozen recordings for the EMI label. His recording of Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez with conductor and tenor Plácido Domingo and the Philharmonia Orchestra was cited as the best recording of that piece in Classic CD Magazine.\n \nIn 2007 Manuel Barrueco received a Grammy nomination for the “Best Instrumental Soloist Performance” for his Solo Piazzolla\, which was the first recording to be released on his exclusive Manuel Barrueco Collection on Tonar Music. Tango Sensations and Sounds of the Americas followed in collaboration with the Cuarteto Latinoamericano\, the latter received a Latin Grammy Award for “Inca Dances” by Gabriela Lena Frank for “Best Classical Contemporary Composition.” In 2010 he released\, Tárrega!\, which received a Latin Grammy nomination for “Best Classical Album\,” Medea\, which includes Barrueco’s arrangement of the ballet by flamenco guitarist/composer Manolo Sanlúcar recorded with the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and Víctor Pablo Pérez conducting and received a Latin Grammy nomination for “Best Classical Album” as well. His latest release is China West\, a recording of guitar trios in collaboration with his protégés\, the Beijing Guitar Duo. \nManuel Barrueco began playing the guitar at the age of eight in his native Cuba. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1967 as political refugees. Later\, he completed his advanced studies at the Peabody Conservatory of Music\, where he now shares his love for music with a small number of exceptionally gifted young guitarists from all over the world. \nIn 2011\, Manuel Barrueco received the United States Artist Fontanals Fellowship for Artistic Excellence. \n

SUMMARY:Rene Izquierdo
DESCRIPTION:Rene Izquierdo\, a native from Cuba\, graduated from the Guillermo Tomas\, Amadeo Roldan Conservatory and Superior Institute of Art in Havana. In the United States\, Mr. Izquierdo earned a Master of Music and an Artist Diploma degrees from the Yale University School of Music\, where he studied with Benjamin Verdery. While at Yale he represented the university in an exchange program with the Conservatoire National de Musique et de Danse du Paris and worked with guitarists Olivie Chassain and Roland Dyens. Rene has appeared as a guest soloist and in chamber music concerts throughout the United States\, Cuba and Europe. He has shared the stage with prestigious guitarists including Eliot Fisk\, Benjamin Verdery and Jorge Morel\, as well as renowned flutist Ransom Wilson\, soprano Lucy Shelton\, David Jolley and Paquito d’Rivera. Renowned composers such as Jorge Morel and Carlos R. Rivera have dedicated works to him. \nMr. Izquierdo is a recipient of numerous awards. He is a winner of JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Competition in 2004\, Extremadura International Guitar Competition\, Schadt String competition\, Stotsenberg International Guitar Competition among others. \nHe is currently a professor of classical guitar at the Wisconsin State University in Milwaukee and an active solo performer and chamber musician. Rene has studied with Leo Brouwer\, David Russell\, Shin-Ichi Fukuda\, Eli Kassner\, Pepe Romero\, Angel Romero\, Carlos Barbosa-Lima\, David Starobin\, Eduardo Fernandez\, Jorge Morel\, Robert Beaser and Anthony Newman among others.

They have ravished audiences with their ambitious arrangements and whimsical\, interactive\, and daring performances. As soloists\, they have distinguished careers of their own\, marked by regular festival and concert appearances across five continents and a growing solo discography on the Naxos\, Odradek\, and Tresona labels. \nThe Great Necks recent appearances include New Mexico’s ‘Chatter’\, the Austonian\, Colorado State University-Pueblo\, Mid-Maryland Guitar Festival\, Rhode Island Guitar Festival\, Trinity-By-The-Cove\, and the Aguado Guitar Series. Their ground-breaking debut album will be released on the Sony/Frameworks label during the 2018/19 season\, which showcases dazzling arrangements including virtuoso orchestral\, piano and organ works by Bach\, Sibelius\, Albeniz\, Scriabin\, Villa-Lobos\, and Marquez. DESCRIPTION:Buy Tickets Today! \nLegendary Japanese guitarist Kazuhito Yamashita is one of the most acclaimed and daring artistic visionaries of our time. His international career began after victories in three of the most important guitar competitions\, and he has since recorded almost 80 albums. His stunningly original arrangements\, including Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition  and Dvorak’s Symphony from the New World  have revolutionized what is possible on solo guitar. \nIn 1989\, the Casals Hall in Tokyo\, considered to be one of the finest auditoriums in the world\, presented a series called The World of Kazuhito Yamashita\, comprising seven concerts in 12 months. The high point of the concerts was Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s 24 Caprichos de Goya in a single performance. The series concluded with Bach’s six sonatas and partitas over two consecutive nights; a recital series was continued in 1994 and 1999. \nFollowing his 1987 Boston Symphony Hall debut recital with iconic flutist Sir James Galway\, the Boston Globe wrote: “Yamashita is a phenomenally gifted artist\, who\, one imagines\, could turn the most mundane exercise into a fascinating musical excursion.”

DESCRIPTION:Ana Vidovic is an extraordinary talent with formidable gifts taking her place amongst the elite musicians of the world today. Ms. Vidovic has given over one thousand public performances since first taking the stage in 1988. Her international performance career includes recitals in New York\, London\, Paris\, Vienna\, Salzburg\, Rome\, Budapest\, Warsaw\, Tel Aviv\, Oslo\, Copenhagen\, Toronto\, Baltimore\, San Francisco\, Houston\, Austin\, Dallas\, St. Louis and beyond. Mel Bay Publications released Ana Vidovic’s most recent DVD in 2009 entitled “Guitar Artistry in Concert\,” a journey through the music of Torroba\, Piazzolla and Pierre Bensusan\, Sergio Assad\, Stanley Myers\, Villa-Lobos and Agustin Barrios Mangoré. “Guitar Virtuoso\,” Ana’s performance of works by Bach\, Torroba\, Paganini and Walton\, was released on DVD by the Mel Bay label in 2006. \nMs. Vidovic has won an impressive number of prizes and international competitions including first prizes in the Albert Augustine International Competition in Bath\, England\, the Fernando Sor competition in Rome\, Italy and the Francisco Tarrega competition in Benicasim\, Spain. Ana Vidovic comes from the small town of Karlovac near Zagreb\, Croatia\, and started playing guitar at the age of 5\, and by 7 had given her first public performance. At the age of 11 she was performing internationally\, and at 13 became the youngest student to attend the prestigious National Musical Academy in Zagreb where she studied with Professor Istvan Romer. Ana’s reputation in Europe led to an invitation to study with Manuel Barrueco at the Peabody Conservatory where she graduated in 2005.
